From spring through late summer, Northeastern Pennsylvania comes alive with hometown carnivals and county fairs across Columbia, Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wayne, Pike, and Northampton counties. Families can enjoy classic midway rides, live music, local food vendors, games, fireworks, and long-standing community traditions.
Summer highlights include the Benton Fireman’s Carnival, Catawissa Celebrates Carnival, Lackawanna County Heritage Fair in Scranton, the Mifflinville Carnival, and the Southside Fire Company Carnival in Riverside. These events bring together rides, food stands, concerts, and family entertainment throughout the region.
The season continues with the Millville Fireman’s Carnival and Orangeville Fireman’s Carnival, both known for their small-town atmosphere and community-driven fundraising efforts.
August marks peak fair season with major attractions like the Wayne County Fair in Honesdale, featuring livestock competitions, exhibits, carnival rides, food vendors, and nightly entertainment.
Another popular late-summer event is the GDS Fair in Newfoundland. Hosted by the Greene-Dreher-Sterling Fair Association, the fair celebrates the area’s agricultural heritage with farm exhibits, animal shows, midway rides, entertainment, vendors, and family activities.
